Abdul Ghafoor Ghafer Shahzad is an Architect, Writer, Conservationist, Poet, Short Story Writer, Critic and Editor. He has been Serving in Punjab Auqaf  Department for last 14 years. He has presented excellent and remarkable architectural designs of historical monuments like mosques, shrines through out the Punjab and contributed in conservation and renovation of old historical monuments.

His articles and research papers have published in Urdu and English in National and International Journals of best repute under subject of Islamic Architecture in Pakistan. He has presented many papers in Seminars and Conferences organized by Anjumn-e-Mimaran, Institute of Architects Pakistan, Research Center of National College of Arts etc.

 

He completed his Bachelor of Architecture thesis under title "Post Independence Architecture in Lahore; He was the only successful candidate in Master of Architecture Programme in 1999 and his dissertation was under title of “Minaret in Mosque Complex”. 

My Research Books

 

His Research Books are remarkable contribution in Architecture in Pakistan and very helpful in teaching faculties for students and scholars. He has also contributed in writing small booklets for Muslim saints describing their life and architectural merits of shrines in Punjab.

 

He has the honor of designing of Baba Bulleh Shah Complex, Shah Chiragh Building, Shrines of Sakhi Turt Murad, Sakhi Saiden Shirazi, Badshahan Khoshab, Qadir Yar etc. He worked for Tajdeed-e-Lahore Programme and revived old dying arts of renovations like fresco work, Terracotta, Kashi Tiles  etc.

 

On his credit there are two books of poetry, three books of short stories, one Novelette, two books on criticism, one travelogue, Three books on Architecture. His poetry and short Stories have been published in annual selection by Academy of Letters. Islamabad. His work has been appreciated by Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi, Amjad Islam Amjad, Ata ul Haq Qasmi, Mustansar Hussain Tarrar etc. His poetry and short stories are being published for last 20 years in magazine like Fanoon, Mua'sar, Mah-e-Nau, Adab-e-Latif etc.
